Whether you are coming to me with an original idea or want a custom version of one of my builds, the following are what I base my build prices on.
BUILD HOURS
60-80 hours is about how much time it takes to build a basic instrument. 100-150 for the more elaborate ones. And I have definitely built more than a few 200+ hour jobs.
MATERIALS BUDGET
$200 is the minimum budget for things like: body wood, neck shaft wood, fingerboard, truss rod, fret wire. And this is before any upgrade options like exotic woods, SS frets, etc....
$200 is the minimum budget for hardware. Yes this is possible but realistically $750 buys the stuff that most people want. And yes it would be easy to spend thousands on some boutique hardware for a kille build.
$50 - $1500 is the range for guitar cases. Whether you just want to get the job done or have your guitar riding in style with extra protection.
