Message From Michael Anthony About the Yamaha 2004 Custom Jack Daniel’s Bass

A new “Jack” bass is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time! After teaming up with Yamaha to do my signature bass, I knew these were the guys that could build it just the way I wanted.

I told the guys at YGD (Yamaha Guitar Development) that I had been wanting to build a new Jack Daniel’s bass and they were very excited to do the project for me. I wanted this bass to look, feel and play the best that we could get it and I think we did just that.

John Gaudesi is the man behind the building of the bass and he knew just what I was looking for. He got the feel, sound, and playability of the bass very close to my signature model.

Then we got ahold of Mike Fiore at Fiore Media Group to do the graphics on it; Chris Compston of Chris Compston Designs did the airbrushing.

Last, but certainly not least, I wanted to add one very special touch to this bass. I wanted to be able to pour Jack Daniel’s out of it!

We attempted and failed several times trying to make that work when John finally came up with the idea of actually placing a couple of small Jack Daniel’s bottles into the body that I could either pull out and drink, or just open up and pour right out of the bass. OW!!!

Pickup: Custom EMG Double Coil (Alnico Barr Magnet)

E.Q.: Onboard Parametric Midrange Cut and Boost 18db
